What science and math courses are prospective Engineering students expected to take in high school?

To be a competitive engineering applicant, we ask students to complete a minimum of four units of math (including one unit of calculus), one unit of physics, one unit of chemistry, and one unit of biology. One unit is typically a high school year-long class (or equivalent).

Calculus is extremely important given the engineering common curriculum, which includes several calculus courses during the first two years at Cornell. We also strongly recommend that engineering applicants complete a physics class, or physics classes, in their junior and senior years of high school.

It is important to review the College of Engineering's "Admission Requirements" to fully understand baseline requirements necessary to submit a full and competitive application for admission.
