Please see the information below to review answers based on your area of study at Cornell University.

 

Undergraduate Students

Students who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States have the option to apply for the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan. To apply, complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Undergraduate Student Loan Request Form.

 

Parents may also be interested in the Federal Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS). For this loan, complete the FAFSA and submit the PLUS Loan Application.

Any non-federal loans are considered private, alternative loans, and you must research and apply for those outside of assistance from Cornell. A list of lenders students have used in the past can be found on our website here.

 

Graduate Students

Students who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States have the option to apply for the Graduate William D. Ford Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan, the Graduate PLUS Loan, or the Federal Perkins Loan. To apply, complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Graduate Federal Loan Request form. 

 

Any non-federal loans are considered private, alternative loans, and you must research and apply for those outside of assistance from Cornell. A list of lenders students have used in the past can be found on our website here.
